Volunteering
Volunteers are a critical partner in ministering to the homeless and hurting in our community! If you are interested in volunteering, please check out the opportunities listed here. We hope you will find a great sense of satisfaction in partnering with St. Luke’s. Please complete the 'Volunteer Inquiry' form at the bottom of this page.
Ways to serve
Mission Mall
This placement site involves: sorting donated items, putting clothes on hangers and checking in and displaying household items. There are also some small cleaning tasks. Volunteers must be able to stand for 2-3 hours at a time.
Receiving Area
The receiving area volunteers receive and greet donors and carry items up to the sorting area. Received items include clothing, accessories, food, and household items. In addition, volunteers may be asked to complete miscellaneous housekeeping duties, such as sweeping or organizing items on shelves.
Mercy Kitchen
The Kitchen is seeking volunteers willing to serve meals, help with cleaning, setting tables, and food preparation, inventory and sanitizing. On school days, we serve breakfast to the school children at 8am and lunch to the children at 11:30am. Monday through Friday we serve lunch to the public at noon and dinner to the public at 4pm. On Saturday, we serve a brunch from 12-1pm. We also wrap food for the sandwich ministry distributed from the Good Shepherd residence. This is an ongoing opportunity.
Buildings and Grounds
Our buildings experience a lot of wear and tear from the volume of people that we serve. If you have handyman or construction skills, then we need you! We have an ongoing list of repairs that you could choose a project or come in a few hours a week.
Our grounds are always in need of sweeping, cleaning, and maintenance of green space. This is a year round endeavor.
Food Pantry
We give bags of food out to hundreds of people each week. Volunteers are needed to sort the food on to the shelves, pack bags and distribute bags weekly.
