Who We Are
Our Lady of Hope Home School (OLH) is celebrating its eleventh year and  is the only Christ-centered school left on the East side of Buffalo.  We provide a well-rounded education to children who are living at or below the poverty level.  No tuition is charged to attend the school. We serve pre-K through grade 8 and have forty-four students.  It costs OLH approximately $6,000 per year per student to educate, clothe, feed two meals per day as well as provide tutoring and afterschool enrichment.  East Side Prep is our after school tutoring and mentoring program which is open to any East side child whether a student of OLH or not. We strive to touch each student and each student’s family and believe that there is dignity in the family providing support to the school.  Therefore, parents are encouraged to volunteer their time and service in different capacities such as working as aides in the classroom, helping with meals in the kitchen or cleaning the school.  Currently we are impacting about 35-40 families or more than two hundred people through the different programs.

Quality
Small class size gives our students the individual attention and guidance that is needed to bring them up to grade level and then have them well-prepared for high school and beyond.  We have a full computer lab for our middle grades, Spanish language classes, East Side prep after school tutoring and enrichment, field trips to historical sites, museums and performances in the arts.  Our focus is faith and productive citizenship in the community which is incorporated into all of our grades.

Measure of Success
Our Lady of Hope Home School has a 90% high school graduation rate!  Further, 90% of our graduates go on to college and earn scholarships.  When compared to the Buffalo Public School retention and graduation rate (56% in 2014), our success is something to cheer about.  See the addendum on our graduates.  Below are links to articles written in the Buffalo News about Our Lady of Hope Home School and East Side Prep.  These articles highlight the success of our programs and the need for our presence on the East side of Buffalo.
