Annual Summer Health Fair Draws Hundreds!

Nearly 300 people participated in this year’s Summer Health Fair, sponsored by a generous grant from the FidelisCare Diocesan Grant Fund. The Fair was truly an event to remember, with health information and screening, a healthy picnic, music with the Voices of Mercy, plenty of sunshine, and a whole lot of fun!

Sisters Hospital, the Catholic Health System, the Erie County Health Department, the Cornell Cooperative Extension, and many others provided screening, information, and even appointments on the spot for our community. Fidelis was on hand to assist those who are seeking insurance. All the while, Amy and her crew kept the food rolling off the grill! During our healthy picnic, featuring foods low in fat and high in nutrients, our participants listened to uplifting praise and worship music led by the Voices of Mercy. Scheduled to end at 1PM, the Fair lasted much longer as the community kept on coming!

Thank you to all our health care agencies for your participation in this wonderful event. Thank you, as well, to all the volunteers who set up tents, tables and chairs, prepared our delicious picnic, and cleaned up when all was said and done. You were all awesome!

Opportunities to Serve

We warmly welcome health care professionals to participate in the Our Lady of Good Remedy Health Services "Cafeteria Clinics". If you would like to offer information or screening during the brunch or dinner hour in our dining room we would be more than happy to accommodate you! We are looking in particular for information and screening for diabetes, blood pressure, stroke, heart health, good nutrition and exercise, asthma, smoking cessation, the dangers of alcohol and drug use, and the importance of regular medical care.

Sneezin' Season Approaches!

As the summer sizzles on please remember that the cold and flu season are fast approaching! Many in our community do not have the resources to purchase simple over-the-counter analgesics and cough/cold preparations. If you would like to donate to the "Medicine Fund" you may do so two ways: send your monetary donation to the Mission earmarked for the Medicine Fund, or purchase items directly and bring them to the Mission. Either way, your help makes a huge difference! The list below highlights our needs. Those items with an asterisk (*) indicate a need for adult and pediatric doses. God bless you!

While we do assist with the care of children, our primary need is for adult doses of the above named over-the-counter medications (items with an asterisk * indicates need for both adult and children's doses). We can not use opened or expired medications. We can not use any prescription-only medications. All cough / cold / flu medications MUST be alcohol free.

Can't get to the store? We will gratefully accept your monetary donations for the purchase of medications. Your donation to Our Lady Of Good Remedy Health Services will be used only for the direct health care needs of our community. God bless you!

Prayer to Our Lady of Good Remedy

O Lady of Good Remedy, source of unfailing help, grant that we may draw from they treasury of graces in our time of need. TOuch the hearts of sinners, that they may seek reconciliation and forgiveness. Bring comfort to the afflicted and the lonely; help the poor and the hopeless aid the sick and the suffering. May they be healed in body and strengthened in spirit to endure their sufferings with patient resignation and Christian fortitude. Amen.
